The chemise is worn under all gowns, and bodice and skirts -- it is the Medieval/Renaissance equivalent to a blouse, slip, and nightgown. Chemises absorb the body's soils and leave less wear and tear on the outer garment which was usually more expensive. Our chemises come with a generous elastic at the neckline for on and off-shoulder wear and have very full, long sleeves.
