The chemise is worn under all gowns, and bodice and skirts -- it is the Medieval/Renaissance equivalent to a blouse, slip, and nightgown. Chemises absorb the body's soils and leave less wear and tear on the outer garment which was usually more expensive. Our ruffled chemises come with a generous length of drawstring at the neckline and have very full and long sleeves.
